Today was Christmas picture day for the Hultquists. For many years, we had our family pictures taken by the same artist in his basement studio. We'd visit him for a sitting, pick up proofs a couple of weeks later, select our choices, and order the prints.
My, how times have changed!
Today, we went to a digital portrait studio. They shot over 100 pictures, then sat us down at a huge monitor and walked us through all of them. It took longer to choose the shots than it did to take them. As we looked, we could crop, tweak, and apply effects to the photos. After we chose them all, we went to grab lunch while the prints printed, and we picked them up 45 minutes later.
The benefits of progress!
Yet, many people lament progress. They want everything to stay the same. Except, of course, their bank accounts... but that's a topic for another day...
It's interesting how most people want only certain kinds of change, missing the profound truth that every living thing is either growing or dying. And whether you're growing or dying, you're changing.
In other words, change is not only necessary, it's inexorable! In other words, change always happens and there's nothing we can do to stop it. We can learn to enjoy it, though.
One of the reasons I created the Library Builder (http://infinitesummit.com/) is so YOU can change in ways that benefit YOU. You can control change to result in what you want most in life.
Change is inevitable. Much of it is good if you are willing to see the good in it.
