Got Time?

I've got looming deadlines. A number of them. From writing a pair of articles for InfoWorld magazine to getting ready for another trip tomorrow, the deadlines are there. And they get closer every minute.

Today, as I finished up packing, the writing deadlines seemed to loom huge. Terry and I talked about it. "You know," she said in her wise way, "if it was anyone else, they'd need to be concerned. But this is you. You'll get them done. You always do."

That's pretty funny, isn't it?

A few years ago, during John Elway's final seasons, I was at the old Mile High Stadium for a cold, November game with some friends. The Broncos were down with only a few minutes left. They had the ball deep in their own territory.

My friend Walt turned to me and said, "Aren't you worried?"

"No," I said, "He's got plenty of time. He's John Elway!"

As you have probably guessed, they marched down the field, scored, and won the game. That year, they went on to win the Super Bowl.

He had the time.

But, others wouldn't have had it.

If you've read the book (http://stephenhultquist.com/skiing.html), you know that we can draw a lot from various experiences and apply it to life in general. We can find life principles resonating in many activities.

Sometimes, though, we need to dig deeper. And that's coming next. We're going to dig into time. Understand how it works, and how we can work with it.

But not until I meet those upcoming deadlines!

How about you?

Let's go!
